Abstract

Writing explanatory texts is the core material in Subject Indonesian. However, many students still have obstacles in writing. The purpose of this study is to explore the problems that occur in writing explanatory texts for grade XI students of SMK BO in Cilacap, as well as what efforts are appropriate to overcome these problems. The method used in this study is the quantitative. The data collection technique used in this study was by using questionnaires. The results showed that students of grade XI Automotive 3 SMK BO 2 Gandrungmangu Cilacap had difficulty in writing explanatory texts, especially in linguistic aspects. Internal factors of students who cannot understand learning well are the background of the problem of difficulty writing explanatory texts. The external factors found are about the optimization of the learning process.  The effort made by students to overcome this problem is that they must take a good look at the teacher.  For this, more optimal media, methods, strategies, techniques, and approaches are needed to increase students' understanding of the material taught in improve their ability to write explanatory texts. The implication This research on imprisoning processes and systems  can be a reference that improves the quality of learning and providing greater benefits for students' ability to write explanatory texts.
